Meeting Reminder

Please attend today’s meeting at 4pm, in Schermerhorn 754. We will be discussing further next steps on our upcoming bargaining committee elections as well as some actions to take in response to the University’s objections with the NLRB.

Update on University objections

We now have a copy of the objections filed by the University’s lawyers attempting to overturn the results of our NLRB election. Employers often file objections as a delay tactic and this appears to be just another baseless effort by the University to ignore the democratic process, especially given the overwhelming margin in favor of the union.

For example, the University’s argument requires that all of the challenged ballots—from individuals the University itself left off of its eligibility list—voted against unionization, which, again, is an extremely unlikely scenario given the unusually large yes vote among eligible voters. Our legal team will be looking into the University’s claims and we will keep you updated on next steps with the NLRB. We are confident that the NLRB will uphold the clear mandate from our historic vote.
