{"id":3471,"date":"2020-02-11T23:10:57","date_gmt":"2020-02-11T23:10:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/columbiagradunion.org\/?p=3471"},"modified":"2020-02-18T23:14:24","modified_gmt":"2020-02-18T23:14:24","slug":"organizing-for-a-strike-authorization-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/columbiagradunion.org\/2020\/02\/11\/organizing-for-a-strike-authorization-vote\/","title":{"rendered":"Organizing for a Strike Authorization Vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>WE WANT A STRONG CONTRACT!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the end of February will be one year since we began negotiations with the Columbia administration, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/columbiagradunion.org\/bargaining\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">while we have agreed on a few things, we are still very far apart on some key issues<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including health benefits and real recourse for harassment, discrimination, and bullying.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While we would prefer to not have to strike in order to win the contract we deserve, we are ready to once again to demonstrate that our work is essential to this university.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As our open letter to President Bollinger, signed by organizers from across departments, below announces, we are now organizing for a strike authorization vote.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What\u2019s next?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><a href=\"https:\/\/columbiagradunion.org\/#getinvolved\">Get involved!<\/a> We need all hands on deck to mobilize for a strong strike authorization vote.<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Come to our next general body meeting: Tuesday, February 25 @ 6pm.
