The deadline to\u00a0accept nominations for the bargaining committee vacancy election<\/a>\u00a0is Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 5:00PM EST.<\/p>\n

In the event that the number of eligible candidates who accept nomination for the specified jurisdiction do not exceed the number of vacancies in that jurisdiction, such candidate(s) will be deemed elected by acclamation and no election will be held.<\/p>\n

If more eligible candidates accept nomination for the jurisdiction than the number of vacancies in that jurisdiction, an election will be conducted with the top vote getter(s) for the specific jurisdiction being elected.<\/p>\n

Elections will start on September 8 (Tuesday) at 9:00 AM EST and end September 9 (Wednesday) at 9:00 PM EST via electronic voting.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A runoff election, if necessary, will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2020, 9:00 AM-9:00 PM EST.<\/p>\n

Electronic voting will take place on the ElectionBuddy platform.<\/p>\n

    In order to receive a ballot with a unique ID code, voters must\u00a0fill out this form<\/a>. You may register starting now.\u00a0Registrations received after 11:59 PM EST on Friday, September 4, 2020, will vote subject to challenge. Challenged ballots will be resolved and\/or counted if they are determinative of the election outcome.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Voters will receive a link to their ballot with their unique ID code via email and\/or text message to their phone.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      VOTING IN THE ELECTION SHALL BE AT LARGE AND SHALL NOT BE RESTRICTED BY JURISDICTION.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Voters, regardless of department, shall be entitled to vote for the number of candidates not exceeding the number of vacancies in each jurisdiction, for a total of eight [8] candidates.<\/p>\n

      Eligible voters have signed a\u00a0GWC-UAW authorization card<\/a>\u00a0who are Columbia graduate and undergraduate students who are currently employed by the University, have been employed by the University in the past, or whose program includes a degree requirement to be employed by the University in one of the categories outlined by the NLRB decision (i.e. graduate and undergraduate Teaching Assistants, Teaching Fellows, Preceptors, Course Assistants, Readers, Graders, Graduate Research Assistants [including those on Training Grants], and All Departmental Research Assistants). If you meet the above criteria and have not signed up for the Union previously,\u00a0you may do so here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
