Dear Graduate Workers of Columbia,<\/span><\/p>\n CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT A COMMENT TO DHS.<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n On September 25, the <\/span>Department of Homeland Security proposed a rule<\/span><\/a> that would shorten the length of time international students and scholars may remain in the United States before applying for a visa renewal. The proposed rule is a part of continued attacks on international students and scholars by the Trump administration, designed to add layers of bureaucracy to an already daunting and complicated process thereby discouraging international students and scholars from contributing to research and teaching in the U.S.<\/span><\/p>\n Earlier this month, UAW Locals across the country joined together to organize an information session with an immigration lawyer on this proposed rule\u2014you can view the recording <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>. In addition, we compiled the questions from the session and the ones we heard from student workers so far into <\/span>an FAQ at this link<\/b><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n We urge you to take a few minutes to submit a comment to DHS against the proposed rule<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n We would also like to remind you to sign <\/span>the petition opposing unfair Chinese students\u2019 visas revocations<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n If you would like to get more involved with our International Students Working Group (ISWG), please email <\/span>gwc.international@gmail.com<\/span><\/a>.
