It has been inspiring and encouraging to see the strength we have as a union, and we know that the administration is turning to threats to dock our pay because they\u2019re confronted with our power. With that in mind, we are writing to you with information about the hardship fund and how to apply for support.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As striking workers, most of us are eligible for weekly $275 payments from UAW\u2014if you have not signed up for those payments already, do so\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/1tpxmbxG_7Nk8s-YXB16XuIOjo8s4ZivfENryX2UZvSc\/viewform?edit_requested=true\">here<\/a>! These funds will be disbursed between March 31 and April 2.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In addition to that strike benefit, we have hardship funds to draw from. Columbia\/Barnard YDSA has organized a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/solidarity-with-columbia-academic-student-workers\">gofundme for us<\/a>\u00a0which has already, raised over $145,000 from over two thousand donors and continues to grow! In addition, we have access to funds donated directly to UAW from allied organizations and individuals in support of our strike.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Please complete the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/1nJrFYEeTDy6ZGZg8\">application for the hardship fund by April 2 (the first round)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Applications will be completely anonymized before they are reviewed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">We will disburse money as swiftly as possible.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Funds will be disbursed on the basis of need. We will prioritize workers with urgent expenses that they will be unable to pay due to wage docking and\/or ineligibility for UAW benefits due to immigration status.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">We hope to be able to cover the wages lost due to striking, and our ability to do so depends on the size of the hardship fund.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We want to make sure that the most vulnerable among us are protected from hardship so that we can continue fighting for the protections and benefits we need.
