URGENT: Call your US senators today and urge them to vote against the discriminatory Visa Waiver Program Improvement Act of 2015.
Last week the United States of House of Representatives hastily passed the Visa Waiver Program Improvement Act of 2015 (H.R. 158). This discriminatory bill would restrict the visa waiver system for travelers to and from the U.S. based on their national ancestry.
While this bill directly affects international graduate students and our families, it also contributes to an increasingly hostile environment of discrimination, hatred and fear, where race, nationality, or belief is being used to justify exclusion and oppression. It is important that we continue to oppose this climate and stand for inclusion.
The bill will be up for vote today in the Senate and we URGENTLY urge you to call Senator Gillibrand (202-224-4451) and Senator Schumer’s (202-224-6542) offices today and ask that they vote against this discriminatory bill.
After calling the senator’s office please sign this petition to the white house.
Our international students working group meets weekly please contact us if you would like to get more involved.
Thank you for helping to stop this bill today!
