GWC-UAW local 2110 unit bylaws drafting and ratification vote process

Invitation to contribute to GWC-UAW local 2110 unit bylaws is hereby declared open: All eligible Union supporters [any Columbia graduate and undergraduate student who is currently employed by the University according to the categories outlined by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Columbia decision (i.e. graduate and undergraduate Teaching Assistants, Teaching Fellows, Preceptors, Course Assistants, Readers, Graders, Graduate Research Assistants [including those on Training Grants], and All Departmental Research Assistants)] who have signed a GWC-UAW authorization card are invited to contribute to our current draft bylaws, by 5pm on Friday, June 4th, 2021. A vote for ratifying the unit bylaws will start on Saturday, June 19th at 9:00 AM EST and end on Saturday, July 3rd at 9:00 PM EST, via electronic voting.

Membership is invited to contribute through commenting on the current draft, sending suggestions to the Process Working Group’s email gwcbylaws@gmail.com, and attending weekly workshops for participating in the drafting process. 

Drafting period timeline is: 

  • May 15-21 Open input from GWC members. Members can submit comments on the current draft or submit whole new Articles or a whole new draft of the bylaws. Two workshops will take place on Tuesday, May 18th, 2021, at 7:00pm EST and Wednesday, May 19th, 2021, at 10:00am EST
  • May 22-28 – PWG will use input from week 1 to put together (an) updated draft(s) of the bylaws. This will be presented at two workshops that will take place this week.
  • May 29-June 4  – Two more workshops. Review consolidated draft(s) of the bylaws.
