This is a notice concerning the upcoming vote to ratify GWC-UAW local 2110 unit’s first bylaws. We have reached a final proposal of the bylaws after 3 weeks of receiving input from the unit including holding 6 drafting workshops for the general membership. The bylaws are the rules which govern how the union is to be run, and outline the different roles and responsibilities of various union officials.
The Interim Elections Committee will host two informational town halls next week to answer any questions or clarifications on the proposed bylaws before the voting period starts. Join the sessions next week:

A vote for ratifying the unit bylaws will start on Saturday, June 19th at 9:00 AM EST and end on Saturday, July 3rd at 9:00 PM EST, via electronic voting. The ballot for our vote on the bylaws will have the following two components:
First, we will have an up or down vote on the entire text of the bylaws. The final copy of the proposed bylaws text is attached.
Second, we will have an up or down vote on a specific proposal: a change in the name of our union from the ‘Graduate Workers of Columbia’ to the ‘Student Workers of Columbia’.
