Our digital and in-person picket lines are on their eighth day! Today’s in-person picketing will be at CUMC (W 168th and Fort Washington) outside of the Hammer Health Sciences Building.

As a reminder, in order to qualify for the strike benefits, you need to perform at least 10 hours a week of picketing duty. If you need an exemption, you can check off that box in the sign-up form. Our digital and in-person picket lines are open to everyone. Bring friends and let’s keep showing in large numbers!

ADD YOUR NAME TO TELL COLUMBIA IT CAN NO LONGER DENY CRUCIAL PROTECTIONS AND BENEFITS TO STUDENT WORKERS!

Columbia does not pay its workers on time, yet the administration says they plan to dock pay from those who are on strike fighting for better working conditions and a more accessible Columbia. In light of the University refusing to address a number of key issues at the table, including access to real recourse through neutral arbitration in cases of sexual harassment and discrimination and paying its student workers a living wage, while using intimidation in an effort to break our strike, GWC-UAW is launching this petition to put pressure on the Columbia administration to expedite reaching a fair agreement for student workers and back down from intimidation tactics. You can find the full text of the petition here. Anybody can sign it, so please share it widely!

The next bargaining session is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, March 23, 1:30-5 PM ET. Please RSVP using this link if you would like to attend the session over Zoom.

At this link you can find an editable graphic you can use as your profile picture during bargaining sessions and beyond. You can customize it by finishing the prompt “WE NEED …” as it relates to the contract negotiations, typing in the designated rectangle. You can find strike Zoom graphics here.
