Now that we have elected our bargaining committee, we are excited to move ahead toward contract negotiations. We are hopeful that the regional NLRB will soon reject Columbia’s objections to our December election. To help send a strong message to the administration that we expect them to respect our vote and come to the bargaining table, we encourage you to sign up here for our Rapid Response Network.

While we hope Columbia will do the right thing, we want to be prepared for the possibility that they might continue their efforts to delay the process and refuse the mandate from their student employees. In response, we are putting together a Rapid Response Network of grad workers from across campus who commit to participating in potential public demonstrations of support and other efforts aimed at getting Columbia to respect our democratic choice for GWC-UAW Local 2110 as our union.

Please take a moment to sign up for the Rapid Response Network and get notified when there are actions to encourage Columbia to stop delaying and start bargaining.

Joining the rapid response list means you are committing to make a good-faith effort, when you are available, to show up for on-campus actions. This could include, for example, delivering our petition to drop the objections, which has now been signed by a majority of grad workers and thousands of our allies.

This is a great way to stay involved with our union and to help call on the Columbia administration to come to the bargaining table. Please encourage your friends and co-workers to sign up too!

Update on our website

Our website has been down for several days due to issues with our server.  We are in the process of moving to another server that will handle our needs better in the long term, but it will take a little more time to get the site back up.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
